Walrus
I am he as you are he as you are me and we are all together.
An individual is nothing, for an individual cannot survive on its own.
We as a human race are what matters,
Differences cannot split us apart.
This poem is confusing like life is confusing.
We try to make sense of it, but it doesn’t work.
We feel lost and lonely, but others experience it in the same way,
So are we really lonely? Or are we together as one?
An individual is nothing, for an individual cannot survive on its own.
We as a human race are what matters,
Differences cannot split us apart.
This poem is confusing like life is confusing.
We try to make sense of it, but it doesn’t work.

The Home Run
I finally see the daylight
My first time since that terrible mud bath
For a moment, I cannot see,
But I am calm and patiently wait my turn
At last! I am up!
The man in the blue tosses me
to a large, pinstriped fellow
He rudely digs his fingernails into my skin,
And sends me flying through the air
I am hit hard by a man in a halo
I wobble through the atmosphere, dazed and confused.
I see water cannons burst into the air.
I black out.
My first time since that terrible mud bath
For a moment, I cannot see,
But I am calm and patiently wait my turn
At last! I am up!
The man in the blue tosses me
to a large, pinstriped fellow
He rudely digs his fingernails into my skin,
And sends me flying through the air
I am hit hard by a man in a halo
I wobble through the atmosphere, dazed and confused.
I see water cannons burst into the air.
I black out.
Hero
The hero stood on a hill,
overlooking the city he helped protect.
What he saw was not pleasing
Evil and injustice filled the air,
so much that even he could not prevent it.
He thought if he could help others help themselves,
then they would not need him anymore.
The hero worked day in and day out,
creating something that would make everyone a hero.
At last he succeeded, and he had changed mankind forever.
The world would supposedly become crime free,
but in fact, the opposite forces reigned.
Evil and hate took over as people abused their new powers.
Pretty soon, everybody was a hero;
therefore, nobody was unique.
The hero quickly realized he had failed,
and he would do everything he could to make it right.
He did learn something from it all:
If everyone’s super, then nobody is.
overlooking the city he helped protect.
What he saw was not pleasing
Evil and injustice filled the air,
so much that even he could not prevent it.
He thought if he could help others help themselves,
then they would not need him anymore.
The hero worked day in and day out,

The Blue Fish
One fish, two fish
Red fish, blue fish
The red fish swims quickly
The blue fish swims slowly
Both fish reach their destination
The red fish wins
The blue fish loses
Both fish finish the race
The red fish gets all the glory
The blue fish remains anonymous
Both fish die as happy fish
Red fish, blue fish
The red fish swims quickly
The blue fish swims slowly
Both fish reach their destination
The red fish wins
The blue fish loses
Both fish finish the race
The red fish gets all the glory
The blue fish remains anonymous
Both fish die as happy fish
Mask
He wears the mask.
It makes him feel safe.
It makes him popular.
It makes him loved.
It makes him important.
But what all these things cannot do
Is take away the shame
Of covering up his true self.
He wears the mask,
And he does not know who he is.
He is lost
In a sea of masks,
Covering up who he truly is.
He wears the mask,
But it hurts him internally.
It contracts his personality.
He is tired,
And desires change.
It makes him feel safe.
It makes him popular.
It makes him loved.
It makes him important.
But what all these things cannot do
Is take away the shame
Of covering up his true self.
He wears the mask,
And he does not know who he is.
He is lost
In a sea of masks,
Covering up who he truly is.
He wears the mask,
But it hurts him internally.
It contracts his personality.
He is tired,
And desires change.
Alone
I am alone,
Surrounded by others, but alone.
A small fish in a large ocean,
I go with the currents, unnoticed.
I am in the presence of other beings, but alone on the inside.
I know that I am beautiful, though others say I am not.
My heart is warm, but few want to share that warmth.
I am swarmed by thoughts of not being good enough,
Not fitting in, not making the grade.
I am alone.
I am alone.
